10U County Cup 2022 - Qualify for National Finals

10U teams through to the National Finals in Bath.

Boys: Stuart Wilkinson (Captain), James Mott (asst. Captain), Alex, Ivan, Lucas, Oscar & Pekko

Day 1: A tough start in the singles versus local South Wales team locking a 2-2 draw. An easier second match winning 4-0 verses Hampshire and IOW.

In the doubles against South Wales, Pekko & Lucas put Middlesex in a strong position to lead 3-2, however South Wales triumphed in the second doubles 12-10 to force a Shootout. Pekko and Ivan stepped up and took the Tie break shoot out 11-9 to seal the win. This was followed up with two doubles wins versus Hampshire and IOW.

Day 2: Matches against Dorset and Gloucestershire on day 2. The boys stepped up and delivered. 3-1 up against Dorset after the singles, followed by two strong doubles wins to seal it 5-1. Slightly tougher against Gloucestershire, going 2-all in the singles after some competitive matches. This was again followed by 2 strong doubles wins to seal the match 4-2 and secure a strong win and qualification.

Girls: Monica Becerra (Captain), Flavia Fabrini (asst. Captain), Emma, Honey, Kaya, Marlena, Olivia & Violet

A strong start from the girls with a 5-1 dominating win versus Dorset. They then faced a tough Hampshire and IOW team with Marlena and Kaya leading the team to 2-2 in the singles. Kaya and Honey put Middlesex ahead with a 4-0 4-1 win before Hampshire and IOW fought back in another blinder 11-9 in the Match tie break to force a Tie break shootout. In a tense affair where Middlesex saved 5 match points, the girls sealed the win to put the team into a strong position ahead of day 2.

Day 2: With singles being played first, Middlesex went into a strong 3-1 lead v Essex, with Olivia pulling through a match tie break and Emma securing two set tiebreaks. A tough start against Herts, with Kaya and Olivia coming through to make it 2-2. Middlesex sealed their qualification for the Finals with 4-2 win over Essex after splitting the doubles and winning both doubles v Hertfordshire to win 4-2 again. Congratulations to our team and captains on their hard work this weekend.
