Middlesex Tennis – Coronavirus update 19 March 2020

March 19, 2020

In light of recent LTA guidance, Middlesex Tennis have further reviewed their position regarding county competitions and county training. This has resulted in the following way forward.

Middlesex Tennis will implement an immediate suspension of all activities for the period up to and including Monday 20th April

We all have a part to play in controlling and restricting the spread of the Coronavirus and this new suspension on all competitions and county training will assist this, whilst also minimising the risk of exposure to our coaches, players and parents. It will also provide time for Middlesex Tennis to monitor future developments and fully assess the implications over the coming weeks.

The following leagues and sessions have been suspended.

· County Training and County Practice sessions

· Middlesex Mini Tennis Master tournaments

· Middlesex Winter Floodlit League

· Middlesex Winter Vets League

· LTA Winter National League

· Middlesex Postal League

· Middlesex Winter Cup (finals to be rescheduled to September)

No more matches are to be played in the above leagues during the suspension period. Please ensure all previous match results are submitted by Sunday 22 March. Points will be allocated for any unplayed matches that were scheduled during the suspension period.

LTA National League - the following LTA statement should be adopted by all clubs.

“If any venues have arranged matches between Wednesday 18 March and Monday 20 April 2020 they should be cancelled with the view to re-arranging at a later date when it is hoped the situation will be a little clearer. Fixtures should not be rearranged at this moment in time; however, we are currently looking at options for when these fixtures should take place and we will be in touch in due course”.

Middlesex Tennis Summer League - no matches are to be played before Monday 20th April.

As there are only 3 matches scheduled prior to this date this is not a major problem.

However, League Secretaries will provide further information guidance in the lead-up to the start of the season when hopefully more information is known.

On behalf of Middlesex Tennis, thank you in anticipation of your understanding and cooperation.
