Our 18U Teams competed in the LTA County Cup over the weekend of 21-23 March in competitive matches with our players and captains putting everything into it.
The Girls, led by captains Ronnie and Claire finished as National Runners Up competing at the University of Bath in Division 1. They beat a strong Hertfordshire Team on day 1 starting off strong to lead 4-2 after the singles. Top pairing Celine and Tamara took the win at Doubles #1 to seal the win 5-4. A tough match on day 2 against local rivals Surrey with Tamara and Hollie winning their singles to give Middlesex hope of staying alive in the doubles. Middlesex took 2 out of 3 doubles which meant it was a 4-5 loss against a very strong team.

With all the matches 5-4 going into day 3, the door was open for anything to happy …sneak a win, Silver or relegation. Surrey quickly took a strong lead against Herts 6-1 to seal their position as Winners, meaning the winner of Middlesex v Susses would take silver for their chance to compete in Division 1 for another year. A strong start in the singles leading 4-2 with Tamara and Celine again sealing the win in the doubles and National Finalist position.

The boys captained by Otto and Shola were competing in Bromley in Division 2 looking to join the girls in Division 1. They were toe to toe with locals, Kent on day 1, missing out 4-5 in a competitive match. Cambridgeshire proved too strong on day 2 with the boys going down 0-6 in the singles. A big fightback in the doubles but ultimately went down 1-8. On Day 3 we had a relegation battle with Hampshire and IOW with the boys whisking through the singles to take a 5-1 win to stay in Division 2 for another year.
