Seniors County Cup
The Seniors County Cup is played over two stages – a qualifying event, followed by a Finals.
For 2025, county teams were placed, wherever possible, in groups based on their performance at the 2024 event, with group sizes differing between age groups.
Teams who finish top of Group 1 of each age group will qualify for the Finals and compete against each other to determine which county will be crowned champion!
Who can play?
There are seven events for both men and women:
Women – Over 40s, Over 50s, Over 55s, Over 60s, Over 65s, Over 70s and Over 75s
Men – Over 45s, Over 50s, Over 55s, Over 60s, Over 65s, Over 70s, Over 75s and Over 80s
Teams are made up of a minimum of four and a maximum of five players.
Players are selected / nominated by their county.
The Finals
The Finals of the Seniors County Cup took place from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 October 2025 at David Lloyd Club Southampton.
Our representatives
We were delighted that 3 Middlesex Tennis teams made it through to the Finals:
Men’s Over 65s
Team: Captain Richard Budgett and Peter Gray, Nigel Mann, Phil Veasey & Jan Kovar.
Final Result: Crushing 3-0 win over Devon.
Women’s Over 50s
Team: Captain Jane Hart and Toni-Ann Barclay, Susannah Dart, Barbara Griffiths, Susheel Gulati & Libby Lyons
Final result: Super 3-1 win vs Yorkshire
Women’s Over 40s
Team: Captain Anneka Els and Fran Brewester, Lena Keothavong, Samantha Spry & Ryoko Yomoda
Final result: Close fought 3-2 win vs Cheshire
Fabulous achievement all the players and a great way to round off the season.
