Middlesex junior Boys and Girls in action in Nottingham
Chief Executive, Andrew Lewandowski reports on the latest success for Boys and Girls 11U at the LTA County Cup earlier this month.

Here’s his report:
Middlesex Tennis is celebrating a fantastic weekend of junior county tennis after both our Girls’ and Boys’ 11U teams secured silver medals at the LTA 11U County Cup Finals in Nottingham.
Reaching the national finals is a tremendous achievement in itself, and both teams demonstrated outstanding determination, teamwork and resilience throughout the competition.
Girls Fight Their Way to the Final
The girls produced a series of impressive performances to reach the final, overcoming Yorkshire and Warwickshire in two closely contested 4-2 victories before booking their place in the championship match with a convincing 5-1 win over Cheshire.
Despite facing a very strong Surrey side in the final, the girls continued to battle throughout the tie. Although Surrey claimed the title with a 6-0 victory, the experience of competing at this level will prove invaluable for our young players as they continue their development.
Boys Show Incredible Fighting Spirit
The boys’ journey to the final was packed with drama, none more so than their thrilling encounter with Essex.
With the match level at 3-3, everything came down to a deciding championship tie-break. Displaying remarkable composure under pressure, Middlesex edged an unforgettable contest 12-10 to secure their place in the final—a performance that perfectly captured the team’s fighting spirit.
The boys also recorded impressive victories over Lancashire (5-1) and South Wales (6-0) during the competition.
In the final they faced a powerful Yorkshire team. Although the score finished 6-0 in Yorkshire’s favour, the result didn’t reflect the determination and competitiveness shown by the Middlesex players throughout the contest.
A Promising Start for Our New Captains
The weekend also marked the first event for our new County Cup captaincy team, Okan Altinok and Miren Shah, who embraced their roles with enthusiasm and professionalism, guiding the players brilliantly throughout the competition.
The girls were expertly led by Monica Becerra and Natalia Ilkow, whose support and leadership helped the team produce an outstanding series of performances.
A Weekend to Be Proud Of
Winning two national silver medals is a tremendous achievement and reflects the strength of the Middlesex performance programme, the commitment of our players, and the dedication of our coaches and families.
Congratulations to everyone involved on a fantastic weekend. The future of Middlesex Tennis continues to look incredibly bright. 🎾🥈
