Tennis Opened Up is a vision for tennis to be truly open to all, no matter their background. This will only be fully achieved when every person’s experience of tennis and padel, in every place it is played, makes them feel included.
Middlesex Tennis are committed to inclusion and having a diverse coaching workforce. To help us achieve this, a range of financial support is available through an application process for coaches from the below groups and who are starting out or continuing along the LTA Qualification pathway.
Financial support is offered in partnership with WimX – the LTA’s appointed Workforce Development Centre for Middlesex.
- Women
- Ethnically diverse communities
- People who are disabled and/or have a long-term health condition that has lasted more than 12 months
Financial Support Available
Financial support will be available for the core module only of the courses listed below, depending on individual circumstances, eligibility and available funding. Applicants will be responsible for any costs associated with pre/post course requisites, elective modules and assessment fees.
The levels of financial support available through an application process are listed below:
- LTA Assistant (Level 1): 50% off the full course fee of £295
- LTA Instructor (Level 2): 50% off the core module fee of £450
- LTA Padel Instructor (Level 2): 50% off the core module fee of £590
- LTA Coach (Level 3): £400 towards the core module fee of £1,200
Application Process
- Applications must be submitted by completing the application form
- Applications will be assessed by the Middlesex Tennis Office and WimX
- Successful applicants will be notified within 1 month of submitting an application
Applications Will Be Assessed Against the Following Criteria:
- Must be from one of the following groups:
- Women
- Ethnically diverse communities
- Disabled people/people who have a long-term health condition that has lasted more than 12 months
- Financial need
- Diversity and inclusion priorities
- Geographic need
- Living and actively coaching in Middlesex
- Demonstrable commitment to tennis/coaching, British Tennis and tennis within Middlesex
- Potential impact of funding
- Experience and ambitions as a coach
- Commitment to dates of course and course pre-requisites
- LTA Coach Accreditation must be held by people applying for the LTA Coach course (L3)
- Must have enrolled on a course within 6 weeks of being awarded funding
Funding Information
- Financial support is available for new courses and not courses already in progress
- Funding is limited and submitting an application does not guarantee funding
- Funding is paid on successful completion of the course
- Funding is for places available on scheduled courses run by WimX only
Expectations
Successful applicants are required to commit to:
- Become (or maintain status as) an LTA Accredited Coach at a registered Middlesex venue within 12 months of completing the qualification
- Applicants for LTA Coach must be LTA Accredited at the point of application
- Deliver some free or subsidised sessions within the Middlesex community and/or volunteer 10 hours to Middlesex Tennis
