Helping Middlesex tennis clubs create safer courts and reduce the risk of avoidable injuries.
Player safety should be a priority at every tennis venue. While tennis is a fantastic sport for people of all ages and abilities, it is important that clubs take practical steps to identify potential hazards and create safer playing environments.
Middlesex Tennis is delighted to announce a new collaboration with Court Safe Ltd, a company specialising in custom-designed safety padding for tennis net posts. This initiative aims to help clubs across the county reduce the risk of injuries caused by collisions with exposed metal net posts.
Why is tennis court safety important?
Tennis players move quickly, change direction suddenly and often focus intently on the ball. During fast-paced rallies and competitive matches, it can be easy to lose awareness of nearby court equipment. An unexpected collision with an unprotected metal net post can result in a painful injury. And, in some cases, more serious consequences.
Although not every accident can be prevented, identifying potential hazards and putting appropriate protective measures in place can help reduce the risk. Small, proactive improvements to court safety can make a meaningful difference to the playing environment. In particular junior players and those taking part in fast-moving matches.
At Middlesex Tennis, we believe that creating safer facilities is a shared responsibility. That is why we have installed Court Safe padding at our new headquarters, Georgians Tennis Club. We are encouraging other clubs across Middlesex to consider doing the same.

An opportunity for Middlesex clubs
To help make safer courts more accessible, Middlesex Tennis is working with Court Safe to support the installation of net post safety padding at venues across the county — with the opportunity for participating clubs to receive the padding free of charge through sponsorship.
The sponsorship will cover the cost of the padding. Thus helping clubs improve player protection without having to fund the equipment themselves. In return, the sponsor’s logo will be discreetly displayed on the padding.
This initiative offers clubs a practical way to review their court safety provisions and take positive action to protect players. Whilst also demonstrating a commitment to the wellbeing of their members, visitors and the wider tennis community.
We encourage all Middlesex clubs to consider whether net post padding would benefit their facilities and to register their interest in this opportunity.

Working together to protect players
Every player should be able to enjoy tennis in an environment where safety is taken seriously. By working together to identify risks and introduce appropriate protective measures, we can help reduce avoidable injuries and support safer, more welcoming courts throughout Middlesex.
We hope clubs across the county will support this initiative and help us make player safety an integral part of the tennis experience.
Together, we can help protect players and make Middlesex tennis safer for everyone.

We were delighted to use the safety padding at our recent County Championships.
