9U Festival at White Horse Leisure and Tennis Centre 2020

February 5, 2020

A team worth so much more than simply the sum of its parts!

Marina Lavarello and James Mott went to Oxford with Aleksandra Mlynarczyk, Arabella Goldfinch, Kimika Fukui, Milica Milojevic, Alex Mcaleavy, Charles Neuez, Enea Gaudenzi and Keiju Yuto, to a U9 County match against Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Sussex.

The team produced a great performance across the board that won Middlesex the trophy. But this was no walk in the park: whilst the strong showing in doubles(yes coaches, great job in training right there!) put us on the front foot right from the off, it ended up being all down to the last single – the last single’s tie break, no less – a nailbiter. Aleksandra fought an incredibly tense game, with all the support from her team pushing her across the finish line. And there it was, a great success achieved the hard way, after 36 matches spanning 10 intense hours of tennis, in which each and every single player earned it through sheer talent, grit and, above all, great team spirit.

Well done Middlesex U9, and thank you for the emotions!
