Adult County Cup Captains Update

October 1, 2020

As part of our on going commitment to developing Middlesex Tennis as the number one County in the UK, and building on the success of the  LTA County Cup Race – Champions 2019, (for the first time in in our history), Middlesex Tennis recently carried out a review of adult teams.

With the aim of building on the successes of adult teams in previous years the county has appointed a new team of captains who will take charge from the 2020/21 season.

On the men's side we welcome on board Mark Tomlinson as captain, assisted by Peter Neathey who as one of our existing captains, has worked for many years within the Middlesex Tennis Team.

Mark brings a wealth of tennis knowledge, expertise and passion to the role, having represented Middlesex as a player at County Week for many years in group one and group two divisions. In addition, Mark played through the junior ranks and was successful as a player to satellite level earning world rankings in both singles and doubles. Mark currently is a member of our 45s team.

Peter has played a key role in shaping the development and careers of some top Middlesex players through their formative years, many who have represented both Great Britain and Middlesex. He played a key role with Alex Bogdanovic,  Harriet Dart and Anne Keothavong, and others,  and is extremely committed to the success of the county through the roles he plays.

On the women’s side, Fran Brewester will continue in her role as overall in charge of adult women teams assisted by Corina Mirea.

Fran has enjoyed a distinguished career as an international tennis player and first represented Middlesex at county week aged 14. Whilst managing and captaining the team Fran is still very much active as a playing member of the team, and in addition captains and plays for the Middlesex over 35s side and GB teams at ITF senior level.

Corina is a former Junior ITF circuit player and an active coach and will combine her role of a playing member of the team with a captaincy role. Both Fran and Corina are very keen to pass on their wealth of experience and expertise (including doubles play), to the younger generation of girls who are currently emerging.

We wish all of our captains well and look forward to seeing them getting involved and making a very positive impact with the squads and teams.
