Calling Pioneers in Environmental Sustainability!

February 4, 2024

A new Sustainability Working Group to drive forward change and make a real impact

On 29 January 2024, we hosted a successful Environmental Sustainability Forum which featured stellar presentations from experts in the field of sustainability, including Jack Baker from the LTA (introducing the LTA's sustainability plans), Lara Kinzel from LOVE:40 (founder of a business specialising in the upcycling of windscreen nets to beautiful products), Louise Price from Price of Bath (who manufactures recycled tennis balls) and Sally Bentley from The Avenue in Finchley (whose aim is to make their venue carbon neutral).

The presentations were followed by a brainstorming session around real actions venues can take to make a difference.

Middlesex Tennis is now establishing a new Sustainability Working Group led by Phil Veasey and Désirée Fields.

Our vision is that those joining the working group will have a real interest in this topic, are pioneers in this area in terms of implementing best practice and ready to inspire others to make meaningful changes. The aim of the working group will be to devise a Sustainability Action Plan for Middlesex Tennis based on the LTA's Sustainability Action Plan.

The intention is for the working to meet 2-3 times in 2024 to develop and implement the Sustainability Action Plan for Middlesex Tennis.

We are planning to hold our first meeting virtually on 11 March 2024 at 7 p.m.

If you are keen to join this exciting new working group and to make a real difference to the future of tennis, please email our Board Member Désirée Fields at  desiree.fields@yahoo.com. We look forward to hearing from you!

Please see below presentations from our first meeting.
